10 years ago the scientist skateboard nerds at Lib Tech became frustrated with 7 ply maple skate decks that lose their pop, get dead and break after a week of skating. With 28 years of composite experience, and a love of wood, the scientists set out to make the world a better place. The result was our world records setting vertically laminated wood/carbon composite construction. Now you have an option! Ride obsolete 7 ply decks or ride Lib Technology. OLLIE HIGHER- BREAK LESS DECKS!

“The goal of making a “green” snowboard is to reduce unsustainable and environmentally harmful materials used. No one’s entirely licked it yet, but Mervin Manufacturing is coming the closest. Almost all their Lib Tech and Gnu boards feature recycled bases, soy-based elastomer sidewalls, low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound, b-a-d) epoxy resins, sustainably harvested wood cores, and no toxic finishing clearcoats. Their new Banana Magic model takes it further, incorporating 100 percent Baslat fiber instead of fiberglass, and a topsheet made from castor beans.”

Gnu is co-opting the vast agricultural skills of farmers (a grow culture) to create the futuristic Agro binding featuring industry-leading Bio-Renewable Polymers and recyclable components. The Bio-Renewable Polymers are responsibly derived from non food-stock vegetation.

The new Agro binding along with the entire Gnu men’s and women’s binding line is making a total commitment to Fastec Technology. Fastec Technology enables smooth and easy “Backdoor” entry into plush state-of-the art ankle straps and toe cup(hockey chin) straps. Even snowboarders who prefer conventional equipment will love using the “Backdoor” if they’re willing to be a little experimental. Not only are Gnu Fastec “Backdoors” easy in and easy out, the unique precision foot registration and enhanced performance will make snowboarders never want to go conventional again.

The Mervin crew, who are revolutionizing the industry by putting Park Pickles and Skate Bananas between your legs, guarantee the next leap forward in binding technology starts with the Backdoor. The Agro model is green in color to remind you of your earth friendly binding choice. Try the Gnu Agro Backdoor!
Available this summer at a GNU Shop Near You

Newport Beach, CA
At the North American sales meeting for Gnu Snowboards, plans for the GNU Park Pickle were unveiled. The Patent Pending Proprietary Park Pickle Product will be included in the 09/10 Gnu Snowboard line. Based on the idea that heelside turns require more leverage than toeside turns, the Park Pick will have a deeper sidecut on the heelside. The board is a true twin shape with a centered stance so it can be ridden with either goofy or regular and includes Mervin Mfg’s exclusive use of Banana Technology.

Pete Saari, VP of Marketing at Mervin had this to say. “The Park Pickle achieves perfect balance through asymmetry, a deeper sidecut and asymmetric core on the heel edge balances your foots asymmetry and the different turn mechanics between heel and toe turns. Twin Asymmetric Banana Magnetraction design is the future of all terrain freestyle performance snowboards. Pickle Power!”

Mervin Mfg is pleased to announce the opening of their new warehouse facility in Sequim, WA. The new warehouse will share space with new customer service offices as well as some additional factory space. This new 10,000 square foot facility is just a few steps from the factory and will be managed by Dave Mounts. Dave ran the warehouse back in our factory in Seattle 3 years ago and we’re pleased to have him back.

Two new Account Relations Specialists will join the team as well. Lindsey Bryan comes to us from Lake Tahoe, CA where she was the manager/buyer at Tait’s Boardshop at Squaw Valley. Matt Olson comes to us from Northwave where he handled logistics and customer service. Before that he worked with us in Seattle and ran the Quality Control Department. “Mervin is so lucky to have found 2 people so capable of handling our account relations at our new facility”, said Greg Hughes, VP of Sales at Mervin. “We have always placed customer service at the top of our priorities and I’m glad to see that our dealers will continue to be treated so well.”

The new offices will be up and running beginning November 16. Our new phone number is 360-683-9414. Matt will be handling the east coast and mid west at extension 42 or at Lindsey handles the west coast at extension 44
